Le Jardin Academy is the first school in Hawaii to offer the full International Baccalaureate continuum.  Le Jardin Academy is a nurturing, vigorous learning community. After School Teacher

Hiring certified or non-certified teachers for Le Jardin Academy after school program 2015-2016 school year.  Hours are 2:15 – 6:00 p.m., Mon-Fri, $8.75- $15/hour commensurate on qualifications. Experience working with school age students in a classroom or recreational setting preferred.

Coaches for Kayaking, Volleyball, Canoe Paddling, Water Polo, Golf

Le Jardin Academy is seeking coaches for various levels in Kayaking, Volleyball, Canoe Paddling, Water Polo and Golf for the 2015-2016 school year.  Le Jardin competes in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH).  The ideal candidate has had playing and coaching experience and is able to motivate and teach effectively at a variety of skill levels. 

Le Jardin is a nurturing and vigorous learning community.  Positive communication and mutual respect between coaches, students, parents and the Athletic Department are valued and expected.

Middle School Vice Principal/MYP Coordinator

Le Jardin Academy Middle School Vice Principal / MYP Coordinator Job Description

 

Qualifications:          Strong leadership skills; experience with IB MYP program

Reports to:                Middle School Principal

Interfaces with:         Primarily Middle School Faculty and Staff

Position Objective:   Assists in the operation of a successful middle school in line with the School’s Mission and MYP philosophy

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Assists with Middle School teacher supervision, coaching and evaluation
  • Assists with routine student discipline
  • Assists in coordination of middle school assemblies, school exchanges and field trips
  • Performs routine administrative activities
  • Assists in the preparation and maintenance of the Middle School budgets
  • Assists with ensuring student safety in the Middle School
  • Works with Middle School Principal on allocation of respective duties
  • Assists with recommendations regarding acceptance and placement of new students
  • Assists with planning and implementing the orientation of teachers
  • Assumes other responsibilities as directed by the Head of School and/or Middle School Principal

 Functions related to MYP:

 Administration:

  • Keep up to date with and inform all staff and students of developments and new publications in the MYP
  • Ensure that all regulations set by the IB concerning the program and all procedures are adhered to properly and that all deadlines are met
  • Ensure that the concept of international-mindedness permeates all subjects
  • Provide Personal Project Coordinator, teachers and students with guidance concerning the Personal Project
  • Induct new faculty, students, and parents into the program
  • Oversee all program documentation:
  • Handle all correspondence having to do with MYP
  • Order all MYP materials
  • Assure that all necessary forms and assessment mailings are completed by the                          
  • Faculty and reach IBO in a timely manner
  • Write reports for IBO, LJA Board, Head of School, etc. as needed
  • Attend Educational Leadership Team meetings
  • Work with HS Associate Principal/DP Coordinator to ensure good implementation of Personal Project and a smooth transition from Grade 8 to Grade 9
  • Make recommendations for budget requests to support the implementation of the program

 Curriculum Management:

  • Oversee curriculum review and development for grades 6-10
  • Provide individual teacher support
  • Communicate with professional staff to ensure cooperation in implementing the program
  • Maintain curriculum documentation within ManageBac
  • Facilitate collaborative planning vertically and horizontally
  • Communicate curriculum decisions to relevant parties
  • Attend Middle School faculty and department meetings 

 Professional Development:

  • Ensure that staff members are made aware of professional development opportunities 
  • Make recommendations regarding professional development opportunities on and off campus  
  • Attend IB MYP Coordinator workshops and participate in other IB PD opportunities as necessary
  • Work with Director of Teaching and Learning to schedule MYP teachers for IB workshops and ongoing IB education
  • Work with Director of Teaching and Learning to keep a record of workshop attendance and school visits to ensure equality of opportunity and identify ongoing needs  

Public Relations:

  • Create and distribute information to the community through LJA communication systems
  • Meet with potential families regarding program specifics
  • Meet with current families to address MYP questions

Pre-K – 12 Director of Learning

Job Goals:

To develop, maintain and sustain an articulated and assessed curriculum from Pre-K – 12

To develop, maintain and sustain a robust professional learning program for Pre-K – 12 faculty

To advance the international orientation of the school

 

Qualifications:

Successful experience in curriculum leadership, development and management

Successful experience in education administration and staff development

Good organizational and communication skills

Ability to lead and motivate a team of professionals, maintain good working relationships, and manage change when necessary

Knowledge of school and student assessment tools

Performance Responsibilities:

Administration

With the Educational Leadership Team, plan for and implement the curriculum development plan through annual goal setting and strategic planning

With the Educational Leadership Team, organize and manage staff to carry out the annual curriculum and development plan

With the Educational Leadership Team, develop the annual school-wide professional development plan and manage the professional development budget

Provide curriculum/instructional leadership

Organize and facilitate curriculum committee meetings

Facilitate school-wide alignment of curriculum including content and content standards, teaching methodology, and assessment tools

Lead curriculum teams through an ongoing study of grade level/subject area programs based on an LJA curriculum evaluation process

Together with the teams, develop long and short range plans

Evaluate, plan and implement the subject area programs based on the curriculum timeline

Collaborate with teachers and curriculum coordinators to create and revise the program of study and curriculum documents

Collaborate with IBO coordinators to ensure curriculum articulation and serve on subject specific curriculum teams

Ensure curriculum documents, both written and in electronic form in ManageBac and on the LJA intranet, are updated

Together with teams and curriculum coordinators, evaluate textbook and learning resources and recommend those for use in the courses offered in the department

With Educational Leadership Team, assist in the search for resources and help with their implementation

Ensure that teachers are aware of resources

Conduct the textbook adoption process

With Educational Leadership Team, coordinate school-wide aspects of the assessment and reporting plans

With the Educational Leadership Team, coordinate the collection and use of data to inform decision-making

With the Educational Leadership Team, coordinate accreditation documents annually and accreditation self-studies and team visits as scheduled

Develop, maintain the PD budgets for each curriculum areas in JS, LS, MS and HS

 

Public Relations:

Create and distribute information to the community through the newsletter and other LJA communication systems

Meet with families if they have questions about the LJA curriculum

 

Supervision: 

With the Educational Leadership Team, direct school-wide curricular projects

Monitor and support teachers in developing and delivering teaching units based on the adopted LJA curriculum

 

Curriculum Management:

Coordinate the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum including mapping, analyzing, selecting, adapting, evaluating, adjusting, changing, sharing and publishing the curriculum

With the Tech team, coordinate electronic and print sharing and publication of various versions of the school’s Pre-K-12 curriculum map and other curricular documents

Administer ManageBac

Together with curriculum leaders, manage and analyze curriculum documents on ManageBac

Help set up systems for communications with the entire professional staff to ensure cooperation in implementing the program in the school

Facilitate collaborative planning vertically and horizontally

Provide individual teacher support

Oversee curriculum review and development for all grades

Communicate curriculum decisions to the relevant parties

Work with curriculum leaders to ensure articulation

  

Professional Development:

Ensure that staff members are made aware of professional development opportunities

Assist in the planning and carrying out of staff development activities designed to improve the educational process, including in-service training designed to support implementation of newly developed curricula;

Advertising, promoting and coordination of PD activities

Organizing school-wide PD activities that are relevant to the school’s direction

Organizing sectional in-house PD workshops that are relevant to teachers’ classroom needs (led by teachers, attended by teachers)

Attend annual conferences for curriculum development, implementation and management; best practices in assessment, use of data, and professional development

Stewardship & Relations Coordinator 

MS/HS Design Teacher Full Time

Le Jardin Academy is seeking a qualified Design teacher, who is experienced working with middle and high school students, to deliver the IB MYP Design program. The program focuses on problem solving and innovation, using the Design Cycle. Middle School course content may include multimedia creation, computer programming/robotics, and mechanical/electrical applications. High School course content is focused on mechanical/electrical engineering and robotics. Also integral to the course are research skills, digital software and applications, and hand/power tool safety. Candidates should have experience or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience is preferred.
