A Community That Cares

At this month’s All Employee meeting, we went through an exercise to articulate Who We Are.  Often similar, albeit distinct, words were used to convey a similar sense or sentiment. By far the number one set of words were “community” and “‘ohana”. Clearly, our faculty and staff feel the aloha among us. LJA is a place of deep caring and strong ties, and it is on this closely held value that I base my request that each of us contribute to this yearʻs Annual Fund as we can. All contributions are meaningful and celebrated: $10 or $10K.

LJA’s Annual Fund subsidizes every child’s education to provide immediate benefit to the school’s highest priorities. The Annual Fund supports innovative programming, enhanced experiential learning opportunities, and financial aid and scholarships to help our families. Finally, as the school seeks major contributions from other organizations and institutions, we are invariably asked to share the extent of giving by our Board, parents, staff, and alumni as a signal of the value placed on the LJA experience. High participation by our community sends a strong message of a shared vested interest in LJA’s mission.

Practical reasons for giving aside, I ask that you consider making LJA’s Annual Fund one of your top giving priorities this year and every year as we all care for our LJA ‘ohana. Please join me as we kick-off LJA’s Annual Fund on October 1.
