Principal's Message by Alex Ramsvig, HS Principal
Aloha All,
This Monday, high school students and staff had a wonderful afternoon together watching five-minute presentations reflecting on I-Term (this link will take you to the available videos).
Importantly, I would encourage parents (and students) to not focus on the end result of this reflection in terms of its "product value"; that is, the strength of reflection may not be captured in the way in which the reflection was presented. Many of these presentations were brilliant, but nonetheless, the important learning came through the process of completing the reflection itself.
Parents of current Sophomores should be working with their students on class selection for next year. These course selection forms are due this Monday, February 10th to the High School office.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
Have a great week!

French Students visit LJA to learn about Environmental Activism by Aidan Anderson (Class of 2020)
On Monday, February 3rd, two international students accompanied by their teacher from Sainte-Marie du Port High School in Les sables d'olonne, France, visited our campus to meet with members of the Wild Kids Stewardship Council. Justine and Nina, both Sophomore equivalents, are currently on a Hawaiian Cultural Exchange Program conducting an investigation on pollution in Hawai'i. They reached out to LJA's Wild Kids Stewardship Council through social media to learn more about the issue. Students discussed plastic pollution, activism, sustainability, and their personal efforts to reduce environmental impact. The Wild Kids are very appreciative that these students want to learn more about pollution in Hawai'i, and they wish them the best of luck with the rest of their exploration! Mahalo Justine and Nina! Pictured: Angus Tanner, Chloe Kaminskas, Maddie Venezia, Aidan Anderson, Justine, Nina, Lily McDermott, Teacher Congratulations to the following students of the Class of 2021 for their acceptance into the very prestigious COPE Health Scholars program at Castle Hospital:

It takes place TONIGHT from 5:30 to 7pm in the Wang. Representatives from the COPE Health Scholar program will be there!
