May 29, 2020 Lower School Principal Message JUNE 3 - Concluding Circle June 3 marks our last day of school. An email will be sent on Monday, June 1st, for registration and we hope you all join us for our "concluding circle."
JUNE 3 – Materials Exchange in the loop for ALL FAMILIES
PYP EXHIBITION Congratulations to all of our fifth graders who commanded their virtual rooms and showcased their learning through this distance model. We are so proud of you!
GR 5 MOVING UP Moving Up takes place today at 1:30pm. All fifth grade families should have registered already. Make sure to join the Zoom at 1.00pm to ensure tech works!
NEXT YEAR School will start on August 12th and though we are exploring different models, we are expecting it to be face to face. We look forward to having all the keiki back on campus! More information can be found in the "Update #12: Re-Opening, Phase II" email from Earl Kim.
TUITION DISCOUNTS and DISTANCE LEARNING for 2020-21: We are reviewing contingency plans for financial support and distance learning for next school year and will continue to make every effort to support families should school closure become necessary. The Board of Trustees has approved additional financial aid funding, and families are advised to apply for financial aid at any point in the year should financial hardship become a concern. We are also looking at safeguards that will allow us to sustain face to face learning longer, and other models should we have to go into distance learning for periods of time that will allow flexibility for students who may need to learn from home while others learn at school. We will provide further information at the back to school meetings prior to the start of school.
REPORT CARDS Due to varying home situations during our distance learning time, report cards will reflect comments only without any indicators. This was the only reasonable and authentic way for us to give feedback on learning during this historical pandemic. Subject areas will list curriculum covered. Grade 5 students will still receive their PYP Exhibition rubric.
EXTENDED DAY SIGN-UP FOR 2020-21 Based on current conditions, LJA is planning for a face-to-face return to school in August. If you will need care for your child after school next fall, please register here today for Extended Day 2020 -2021 school year. Please note that space is limited, first-come-first-served.
