MIddle School Communications
The majority of school information is sent electronically. Please make sure our Middle School Administrative Assistant, Kimberly McDonald, has your most updated email account and address. Kim can be contacted by email at kim.mcdonald@lejardinacademy.org or phone at 261-0707 x1160.
Also make sure to visit our Middle School Parent Portal website here to find useful information and to view the following important documents. Updates occur throughout the year so check in often to find the latest information.
Prior to school starting you will receive more information from the Middle School Office for the 2020-2021 school year, including individual student class lists.
MS Arts Elective
This year we will be offering a non-graded optional arts elective (formerly SEA block arts) within students' regular class schedules. Please fill out this form in order to assist with scheduling your child's OPTIONAL arts activity. Please include a second choice as we will be filling classes based on response time and once a class has met the maximum roster number your child will be placed into his/her second choice. Students not interested in participating in any of the arts electives, may indicate so on the form. Your child may elect to join one of these classes later in the year if the desired class is available in his/her schedule. Please contact the MS Office if you have further questions.

Magnus Health Update ALL FAMILIES: HEALTH FORMS – CRUCIAL FOR ATTENDANCE
Student medical forms should be submitted to Magnus Health through our Parent Portal (lejardinacademy.myschoolapp.com). Deadline is July 28 for all health forms (Grades PK-12).
New families should allow 20 to 30 minutes per student to fill out the entire set of forms and upload paper forms as required. Each year, parents will login and confirm or update each child's record. For returning families, most data entered into Magnus previously will only need to be confirmed or updated if changed, including immunizations records.

Health - ALL STUDENTS - Here is a checklist of items that should be uploaded into Magnus:
Health - NEW STUDENTS All new students must submit Student Health Form 14. The Student Health Form 14 record must include a current physical and TB clearance. Hawaii State regulation prohibits attendance without these documents. These forms must be received PRIOR to the first day of school along with evidence of proper immunizations.
Health - ALL 7th & 8th GRADE STUDENTS The state has updated requirements. Before the first day of school, all seventh and 8th grade students must provide documentation of having received a physical examination and the following vaccinations:
For your child's records we use Magnus Health, a web-based system used for managing health records. This system follows internationally recognized security standards and is HIPAA and FERPA compliant. SMART TUITION
Please remember to sign into the SMART Tuition paperless billing and payment system. This is located in the Resources tab in the Parent Portal (lejardinacademy.myschoolapp.com). This is the same portal where you signed enrollment contracts. If you have difficulty logging in or need a password reset please email melissa.handy@lejardinacademy.org.
New Families Welcome Day
New Families Welcome Day on Tuesday, August 11. New families are encouraged to attend to learn more about the LJA campus and the start of the new year. Refreshments will be available. More information will be provided as the date gets closer. Please adhere to the following schedule:
Athletics
The Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) in conjunction with its member leagues - the Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF), Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH), Kauai Interscholastic Federation (KIF), Maui Interscholastic League (MIL), and the Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) - are working within DOH, CDC, and government guidelines to determine the plans for the upcoming fall season. All parties including athletic directors throughout the state are meeting regularly to find solutions for Hawaii's student athletes to safely return to play. We will share more detailed information as it is approved.

Lunch Orders Lunch orders will be taken later this summer. The information will be accessible from the new Parent Portal (lejardinacademy.myschoolapp.com).

Spirit Store
Required PE shirts/shorts for school and other Spirit items will be available to order later this summer on August 3. Reminders to order the required PE items will go out in our next summer email later this month. Orders placed when the Spirit Store opens will have time to arrive before needed in PE. After School Activities
AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Besides Extended Day (open until 6:00 pm), we are currently assessing our offering of Afterschool Activities. A separate email regarding these different offerings will be sent later this summer.
EXTENDED DAY
Extended Day (after school care) resumes on August 12th. Click HERE for important details regarding the Extended Day Program. If you need after school care for your child, please contact Extended Day as soon as possible as the staff is based on attendance and some classes have filled in previous years due to late enrollments.
