Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Updated COVID Guidance 9.16.22

The Hawaii State Department of Health (HDOH) published new Health Guidance for K-12 Schools on August 16, 2022. LJA updated its Routine Disease Control Framework (RDCF) to reflect these changes and monitors CDC guidance on Community Alert Levels.

Effective September 16, 2022 the CDC downgraded its Community Alert Level from MEDIUM to LOW. In accordance with the LJA Routine Disease Control Framework (RDCF), staff and students now have the option of masking (as opposed to "required with students" and "strongly recommended" respectively) while indoors. Visitors and spectators are also "mask optional" instead of "strongly recommended." The following mandates outlined in the RDCF remain in place:

  • Masking and testing is required for any close contact of a COVID positive individual.
  • Following travel, students and employees must test upon return to O'ahu and test again on Day 5 post-travel. Masks must be worn until testing negative on Day 5.
