April 29, 2021 Lower School Principal Message Aloha Parents,
Next week we will be celebrating our teachers and all that they do to help your children become the best possible versions of themselves. Our teachers work tirelessly learning new research in best practices around teaching and learning. They stay late carefully designing unique experiences through which your children can explore and construct their own understanding of the world around them. And they are constantly meeting together for a coordinated approach in helping your child in all aspects of their day whether your child is in their anchor classroom, PE, art, music, library, media design, language, learning support, extended day, or an after school activity.
Here's a list of ideas of how you can show your appreciation for your child's teachers next week! TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

PICTURES OF PRACTICE
Students in grade 2 have begun to set the foundation for learning multiplication.
Skip counting is a step in the process. Activities such as drawing apartment arrays and rolling the die help to relay the concept.
Students are also learning how to tell time to the minute by making their own clock on a classroom table.
A huge Thank you to Mr. Ian Brooks, LJA parent, coach, faculty spouse, and expert in making hand sanitizer (but best known by his work at Koolau distillery) for working with our fifth grade's Chemistry in the Kitchen. We now have LOTS of hand sanitizer and greater understanding about chemistry.
Constructing at the Imagination Station and free play on the playground support learning in the classroom!
