Principal's Message by Alex Ramsvig, HS Principal May 6, 2021 Aloha All,
First of all I would like to congratulate and continue to wish luck to our seniors who started their DP exams last week. Under the careful guidance of Lindsey Schiffler and Lizbeth Smith students have had a great start to the process. In fact, the IB conducted a surprise "virtual inspection" of our protocols and LJA earned top marks in all categories.
Parents of seniors, please see the email sent Tuesday regarding the Graduation meeting on campus at 5:30 on Tuesday (Meet by the Gym, please one parent only).
Students should be focusing on their final projects and examination prep over the next week.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
Alex Ramsvig HS Principal
HS Dean of Academics & DP Coordinator Lindsey Schiffler
Aloha all!
It is hard to believe that we are in the final weeks of the 2020-2021 school year. Students have one more week of classes before final exams start on Monday, May 17. The final exam schedule follows the same pattern as the first semester exam schedule back in December. The schedule will be emailed to all students on Monday, May 10. For the majority of students, an exam is scheduled in every class. Please ask your student(s) to share and discuss the schedule with you. Each exam block is 2 hours and follows the Monday/Tuesday schedule. Students are required to be in the exam room for the entire exam block. If a class is not on the schedule, students do NOT have an exam. If uncertain, please check with the teacher(s). Students should not be on campus unless for a scheduled exam. However, if transportation is an issue, students are welcome to study in the library or outside in one of the tents. In this case, students need to have a permission form signed and returned to Ms. Surina by Friday May 14. This permission form is included in the same email as the exam schedule.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns

Aloha from the College Counseling Corner,
This has been a very exciting year for the Class of 2021 (59 students). The college process itself isn't necessarily exciting, it would be considered more of a rollercoaster of emotions for everyone involved. At this point in the school year, students are making final decisions and this is where the excitement happens. Every senior class starts out thinking the most challenging part of the process is building a college list. But in fact, it is looking at all their options and picking just one. As of today, here are some of those commitments:

Mahalo to all the 9th grade parents who joined us for Personal Project Information Night (aka, the Coolest Project in the Universe!). If you missed it, here is the slideshow and link to the video. The biggest take away? This is a self-driven project that students design to learn something that they have always wanted to learn. If they are choosing something they are passionate about, they might even have fun! This summer is for brainstorming and narrowing down our ideas of what would be a great learning goal and outcome for their project. I will be meeting with grade 9 students during advisory on Tuesday, May 11 to help them start. In the fall, students will receive a supervisor and begin Criteria A: Planning. If you have any questions, please email rachel.domenic@lejardinacademy.org
Technology All tech questions should be directed to helpdesk@lejardinacademy.org or to the chat forum at https://www.lejardinacademy.org/parent-portal. Please do not email teachers regarding tech related questions.
