World of Wonder. The natural world cast its spell on kindergartners and first graders this week during two immersive nature-based lessons. Pictured above left, kindergartners visited the Kahana'iki site directly across from LJA, where they spent a morning with Ka'iaikaula Nalua'i-Sempio learning a Native Hawaiian chant, exploring the concepts of habitat restoration and invasive species, and learning the rich and storied history of this special region. Pictured right, Heidi Picker's first grade class witnessed the magic of a monarch butterfly's emergence from a chrysallis and subsequent first flight. |
