PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Aloha LJA Families,

Your PFA has been busy these past two months with fun events for our children and starting to plan the next series of events for the spring.

Our most recent big event was the 19th annual Fun Run held on February 12, 2017. We had approximately 200 people come to the event on that beautiful Sunday morning and enjoy the race, the inflatable, and the climbing wall. This year TumbleKids provided the obstacle course in the middle of the Loop and the children all had a great time doing it. We were also incredibly lucky with the weather, missing the storm the day before and being greeted by beautiful sunshine! I would also like to extend very many thanks to Jessica Kosut, Laura Thielen, Rebecca Chang, and Mercedes and Jaycee Fagundes for putting together a really awesome event.

The PFA held a number of fun events for students in the past couple of months. The High School was treated to hot chocolate and cider during the Advisory period that the students really appreciated. We look forward again to providing several delicious varieties of pie on March 14th to celebrate "Pi" day, another treat the high school students obviously love. The Middle School held their second Movie Night showing "Back to the Future" and serving pizza. We had twice as many students attend this event this year! Both the Lower School and Middle School also held their annual dances, both of which were very well attended. The PFA also provides a light breakfast during the Coffees with the Principal at all school levels to encourage parent attendance. We also continue to support our teachers during those PDD days with coordinating healthy food and treats for them to enjoy and know they are very much appreciated!

Our next big focus at the PFA is supporting LJA's annual Blue Moon Gala, to be held on 22 April. This is a really fun evening at the beautiful Pacific Club with so many of our great families here at LJA, so I encourage you all to attend. This year's theme will be the 1920's so get those flapper dresses and zoot suits ready! The PFA participates in this event by happily volunteering to help put it together and of course encouraging everyone to come. If you would like to help out in any way, please send me a note at pfa@lejardinacademy.org.

We are approaching our annual PFA election for next year's Executive Board. It has been an honor to serve our LJA ohana as your President for the past two years, but since both my position as President and our Treasurer's position can be served for only a maximum of two years, we will need new volunteers to come and be a part of our team in this capacity. Online nomination forms will be coming out in mid-March so please look out for that and consider joining us! Elections will be head in early April.

And always if you have questions or comments for us, or want to know more about what positions are open with the 2017-2018 PFA Executive Board, please do send us an email at pfa@lejardinacademy.org.

We wish you a happy spring!

Morgan LaRue
PFA President

Junior School

The Junior School has been really busy.  The JK Garden is doing quite well and a new event was added this year...the celebration of Chinese New Year.  Students even performed a Chinese New Year song!  The next event, Coffee with the Principal, is scheduled soon.  Please visit the Junior School section for more info.

Dance, Dance, Dance at the Lower and Middle Schools

The Lower School and Middle School had their annual dances and both were a big hit!  Both were well attended with a lot of silliness and laughing, and of course the big fun at the popular photo booth during the Lower School's dance (a few photo booth photos shown below).  Stay current with upcoming events by visiting the Lower School and Middle School sections of the LJA website.
