LJA IS POWERED BY SOLAR

We celebrated the completion of the 300 KW solar photovoltaic project with a blessing on January 18. With the newly installed solar system, LJA has reduced its carbon footprint by reducing energy usage; and subsequently putting more funds back into the classrooms.

Generous donors were recognized including The Joseph & Vera Zilber Family Foundation, The Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation, Atherton Family Foundation, and Strong Foundation. The solar project was blessed by Kumu Ka'anohi and guests enjoyed a presentation that highlighted how the solar photovoltaic system will be used as a learning tool for students.

"We cannot say enough how this solar system makes a tremendous difference for our school and our environment," says Head of School D.J. Condon. "And it aligns with our school's mission of social responsibility and environmental stewardship."

VISIT FROM ALUMNI CHARLES DJOU

We were fortunate to reconnect with alumni affiliate Charles Djou '88 this week. Djou attended Le Jardin Academy from Grades 1-6 and this was his first time on the school's main campus. He shared memories with Head of School D.J. Condon as they flipped through the pages of his old yearbooks and then joined Mr. Boyce's Grade 11 Business Management class to discuss the role of public service giving back to the community.

Djou personally engaged nearly every student in the room in lively and challenging conversation regarding the intersection of business and government. And he reminded students of the unique opportunity they possess to effectuate change as a young person.

LJA FACEBOOK PAGE

Mahalo to everyone who have been following us on our alumni Facebook page! In an effort to create vertical alignments throughout all our divisions, which includes our alumni, we will be combining our alumni page with our Le Jardin Academy Facebook page. This way, we can bring you both alumni updates and current campus happenings. We encourage you to please follow us @´╗┐lejardinacademy.

SCHOOL VIDEO

A really big mahalo to the teachers, parents, and students who opened up their classrooms and also volunteered to be interviewed for our school video. Everyone did such a great job and the video truly highlights what makes our school and our students so special. The video was shown at our recent Open House and is also now on the home page of our website. Take a look!
