November/December 2017

President's Message

It's hard to believe the holiday season is upon us! We are lucky to get the opportunity to mark off the changing of the seasons with our kids here at Le Jardin – the Halloween Parade is too quickly behind us and winter concerts are on the horizon!

The Fun and fabulous Winter Wonderland and Annual Craft Fair will be held Saturday, December 9th. It's a great opportunity to check off your gifts list with local vendors. If you still need to do more shopping, consider supporting LJA as you place your orders on Amazon by bookmarking the direct shopping link here.  The school receives a percentage of your purchase at no extra cost to you!

The PFA has a new series of events – PFA Parent Forums, aimed at strengthening the relationships we have as parents with the school leadership as we navigate the often-challenging road of raising our children. The first Parent Forum was focused on the topic of "Helping our Children Make Healthy Choices" and we had a presentation by D.J. Condon followed by an engaged group discussion about drug use as well as establishing expectations and consequences with our children. Future formats will include panel and/or expert presentations, followed by group discussions (both small and large). The next forum is scheduled for Tuesday, December 5th at 6:00pm in the Wang and we will continue the conversation on helping our children make healthy choices, with a focus on discussing sexual health. If you have topics that you would like to see covered, please let me know and we will work to incorporate them into the series.

I had the pleasure of working the PFA table at the Open House on Saturday, November 18. There was a great turn-out for the event, and I chatted with a number of families with children ranging from junior school to high school. While many of the comments were about the gorgeous setting (and it was a spectacular blue-sky morning) for the campus, there were an equal number of remarks about how confident and well-spoken the student-ambassador tour-guides were. It was great to see our children representing Le Jardin Academy to the visiting families. Thank you to Jen Souza and the teachers and administrators for empowering our kids to speak for themselves and share those qualities that make our LJA community so special.

Have a wonderful holiday season!
