President's Message

Happy Spring!

With Spring Break next week, many of us are wondering how the year has passed so quickly! The PFA has had a busy few months – coffees with the principals, movie nights, middle school and lower school dances, STEM night, coffee & treats for the High School faculty, Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year at the Junior School, Family Fun Run, Books and Bagels… and that's not a complete list! Many thanks to the School Reps – Kristy Scherman, Jennifer Yu, Sarah Smyth, Barney Brennan, Lara Wilcox, Blair Morrison and Katey Edwards for all your work organizing and coordinating the events. Special thanks to Suzy Mitchell for continuing to organize and feed the faculty on the PDD days and to the generous families that have brought delicious food!

It's your chance to join in on the fun… the annual PFA board elections are coming up. Nominations are open today – please volunteer and/or nominate someone that you think would be a great addition to the PFA board!

I can't emphasize enough what a great experience it is to work with fellow LJA parents on projects that bring immediate smiles to the faces of our kids, their families and teachers! If you have any questions about joining the PFA board or how to get involved in the many events we support, please drop me a line at

Annual PFA Fun Run

The 21st Annual Family Fun Run was held Sunday, February 25th – with a wonderful turn out of families, teachers and administrators. The rain even held off until after the race was complete. What a fun day to celebrate our LJA community on our beautiful campus! Thanks to Morgan Larue and Mercedes Fagundes to leading the charge and coordinating the event.

Books and Bagels

Friday, March 2nd was the successful Books and Bagels event. Thanks to the fabulous room parents that helped coordinate the classroom treats. An added bonus this year was Kapuna Day that followed directly afterward in the Wang. Mahalo to the families that made it a fun celebration of reading together!
