Message from the Athletic Director

 

Fall break means that most students get a little extra time to kick back, relax and enjoy some downtime.  But Bulldog athletes stay in high gear all week long.  Each of our fall teams are still practicing at least 5 days a week for multiple hours a day and most are preparing for the much anticipated, post season.  It's not easy being an athlete at the middle and high school levels. It requires careful time management, a balance of academics, sports and a  motivation to work out when everyone else is sleeping in. That's why they say, 'Sports don't build character... they reveal it'.

Paddling Updates

We have a new varsity head boys paddling coach, Scotty Freitas. He will take over the boys program and we are pleased to announce Natasha Hopkins-Moniz and Te'ave Heen will be leading the girls paddling crews. 

 

Paddling Informational Meeting , October 22nd, 3:30pm at the gym. Any 9th-12th graders who are interested should come. This is for both boys and girls.

Spirit Bus!

Please come out to support our boys varsity water polo team on October 17th. They have a game at Kamehameha Schools, one of their biggest rivals. Jump on the spirit bus and join us to cheer on our boys!

Boys Soccer (all levels)

Intermediate soccer will start 10/15. Practices will be 4:15-5:45pm. Please email Coach Lawrence at smalls.lawrence@gmail.com

 

Girls Soccer parent informational meeting on Oct. 18th at 6pm on the soccer field. 

Girls Basketball (all levels)

Pre season conditioning every Saturday 7:30am-10am at the gym. Come to meet our new head coach, Kalani Fronda.  Practices for intermediate begin 10/22 and varsity starts 10/29.

Boys Basketball (all levels) contact Coach Tim for pre-season workout information. timharrison.coach@gmail.com. Intermediate practice starts Oct. 22, varsity practice starts Nov.12 at the gym.

CSAL Girls Volleyball for grades 4-6. 

Start date, Monday, Oct. 15th-Friday, December 14th. 

Practices are Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30-4:30pm in the gym or tennis courts.

A handful of LJA XC runners volunteered on Oct. 6th, at the Children's and Youth Day Fun Run. LJA's very own senior Gianna  Sabarbaro was director of the run this year with over 130 keiki runners. This event takes a full year's worth of planning involved with getting permits, hiring HPD, planning the race route, managing the race packets and sound system, getting raffle donations, awards etc. It was so great that the cross country ohana helped out. They all just want to share their passion for running with our keiki.
