 Signing Students In/Out

New Procedure effective October 22nd as we continuously try to improve our practices we have decided to update our safety procedures by asking you to come to the office and let Mrs. McKillop know your child is present at school if you arrive after 8:15 a.m.  We will still ask you to sign your child in on the sign-in sheet in the classroom; but in the event that your child is with a specialist and the homeroom teacher is not in her room, this will provide an extra layer of safety for your child.  Mrs. McKillop will also inform the homeroom teacher that your child is in. We thank you for your cooperation with this new procedure.

Early Care

Starting on Monday, October 22nd Early Care will be in the Art and Music Rooms.

Intruder Alert Drill

The Junior School conducted a successful intruder alert drill the morning of October 17th. These drills are triggered by a loud sounding alarm that can be heard throughout the campus. During the process, which we call "Safety Drill," doors are locked, lights are turned off and students and adults find a place of refuge where it's more difficult to see them (against the wall, in lofts, behind lofts, etc.) Madame Akina then turns off the alarm and goes to each door to release the classrooms. The alert drill and a fire drill will be conducted during Extended Day in the near future.

Parents Turn to Learn – October 25th

  • Please send students to school dressed in their outfit for photos.
  • You may bring a change of clothes for afterward.
  • Students who were absent on picture day will also have an opportunity to have their individual portraits taken.

Halloween Decorations Help Needed - October 26th - 29th

If you can assist students as they create crafts in the art room, help is needed Friday, October 26th and Monday, October 29th from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Help is also needed with hanging the decorations on Monday, October 29th at 2:45 p.m. to decorate the campus. Come for all or just part of the time, extra help is appreciated. Sign-Up Sheet is on the front courtyard table. Unfortunately, due to the high number of students in extended day, we are not able to have non-extended day students on the playground.

Halloween Parade – Oct. 31st

The Junior School Halloween Parade will take place at 8:15 a.m. on October 31st on the playground field. Students come to school dressed in costume and bring a change of clothes in a labeled bag. As you plan for your child's costume remember that weapon accessories may not be brought to school. Celebrations will follow in each class with a special snack and activity. We thank you for following the no goodies bag policy, including candies, and for checking food allergies when planning snacks. We appreciate your cooperation.

Please note: The two churches up the road will not allow parking for this event; parents will have to be responsible for solving parking issue on their own if the parking lot at the Junior School is full. We encourage car pooling and appreciate your understanding.
