Lower School Principal Message

With the help of Technology Director Melissa Handy, Learning Specialist Julie Larson-Hicks and Lori Praetorius, we had two presentations for parents prior to the Halloween parade. In case you missed them; here are some summaries:

  • MAP (gr 3-5): to support your child at home with online test taking skills as well as content, parents can use Read Theory for reading or IXL or Khan Academy for math. Scholastic Book Wizard was shared as a resource to help you find chapter books targeted at your child's Lexile Range.
  • VIDEO GAMING: please use Common Sense Media as a resource to help decide appropriate games for your child. Fortnight is recommended for students aged 13 and older. If your child is online playing games (or researching), make sure there is supervision and we recommend that students are not in their bedroom on devices by themselves.  When your child is online, the biggest gift you can give is your presence; consume media together! Here is a link to this morning's presentation.

HALLOWEEN
Appreciations to our Student Council for a successful and fun Halloween parade this morning. President Norah Dodson and Vice President Kala'i Soares were awesome emcees! Thank you also Lori Praetorius and Kara Omori for their advising roles in the club! I also appreciate our parents who decorated our festive loop! All our students appreciated the snack and juice provided by the PFA!

HEALTH ALERT

Please be aware that multiple cases of influenza A has been diagnosed and confirmed across the grade levels here on campus. If your child feels ill and you have questions, please see your child's doctor or check with Nurse Ali at school. Here is more information on influenza.
