Third grade students spent three days this week learning while volunteering at Kako'o Oiwi as part of their "Where We Are In Place and Time" unit of inquiry. Being able to visit the same location days in a row enabled the students to see the progression of difference their efforts made as well as to experience the richness of the site more in-depth.

Lower School Principal Message

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and were able to enjoy great food and spend quality time with family and friends. December tends to be a busy month and we hope you can join us for our Winter Concerts on December 14th as well as some free crafts and snow play at Winter Wonderland on December 15th. The LJA craft fair will also take place on December 15th with fun crafts both from outside vendors and our own students.
We do ask that your child is present the following week and you try to plan holidays around our times off as we have had a lot of absent students, which causes them to fall behind in the learning. The learning that happens is often through collaborative projects rather than worksheets, which makes it challenging to complete with absences.  Students in grade five will be starting PYP Exhibition shortly and their attendance is crucial.

Last year our LJA families were the largest group to participate in Jingle Rock Run, which supports Make-A-Wish foundation. This year, thanks to support from Make-A-Wish, we are aiming to continue our reign! Please follow this link to join us run/walk a 5km in beautiful downtown on Sunday, December 16th.  You will be able to pick up your race packet here at LJA and the registration fees are WAIVED for LJA families; however, we do encourage all to make a donation to Make-A-Wish: THIS REGISTRATION IS DUE NOV 30th. Please fill out THIS FORM multiple times for multiple family members.

The Second Semester After School Activities Catalog is now ready to view. The enrollment period is Tuesday, December 4 through Friday, December 21, and will automatically close at 5:00 p.m. HST on 12/21. This enrollment link will be active starting Tuesday, 12/4.
