Golf Meeting for Interested Athletes

If you are interested in playing golf for LJA this year, there is an informational meeting on Jan 25th at 3:45pm outside of the gym. Coach Simpson will share important information about the upcoming season. If you are not able to make it but want to play golf, please email him at kailuagolf@gmail.com. Practices start 2/11/19.

Here is a message from Coach....

I am excited to be coaching the golf team again this year. Last year we had students that ranged from advanced to beginning golfers. Our goals were to have fun, learn the game, improve their skills and to enjoy the competition. All of our golfers seemed to enjoy the season, so we will be out to do the same again this year. We will have Varsity and Intermediate teams for boys and girls. We also are fortunate to have Patrick Boyce returning along with Brett Fillmore as our assistant coaches. We will have a pre season meeting where you can ask any questions you may have about the team and our schedules. You may also reach me via email or phone. Mahalo for all those who played last year, and we are looking forward to a great season for the golfing Bulldogs this year!

There are only two more weeks left in the canoe paddling season. Please come out to support our boys and girls crews the next two Saturdays at 8:30am at Magic Island.

LJA XC Off Season Running

Offseason running with coach Jenny Helman is starting January 14th on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-6pm. They will meet at Kailua Beach Park near the canal. Parents are welcome too!

LJA Swimming Results

On the intermediate side of things, the boys medley relay got us started with a 3rd place team finish in the 200 medley relay. Individually, we had many top 3 finishes with Jeffrey McDonald and Catie Fernadin both sweeping the sprint freestyle events (50 meter and 100meter free).

On the high school side of things we had 7 new state qualifying times individually, and we qualified our 400 meter freestyle relays for both boys and girls for high school states. Leading the charge individually were Ethan Ravelo (500 meter free), Lana Ravelo (100 meter IM) and Alana Barthel (100 meter back) who each took home top place honors in their respective events. We had another half dozen top 3 finishes.

Way to go Bulldogs!

2 LJA Students to Represent Team USA at Open BIC world Championships in New Zealand

Michael Hotchart and Danika Sailor represented Team USA at open BIC world championships in Auckland NZ during the last week of December. This is a big deal. They are competing amongst some of the best sailors in the world. Team Hawaii and team USA are made up mostly of Hawaii sailors.
