Parent Workshop – January 15th - 8:15-9:30 a.m. in the Music Room

Parents of young children often feel frustrated by the challenges of raising and guiding their young children. How do I get my child to listen? How do teachers manage to get 12 to 15 children to follow directions and I struggle with my one (or two or three)?  Join our PK teachers Rochelle Fairbairn and Chloe McDermott for a workshop that will provide strategies and vocabulary that will help parents be more effective communicators. The workshop will consist of a 45-minute presentation followed by a Q & A session.

Personal Safety Presentation

Madame Akina will give a 20-minute presentation on Personal Safety to the JK students the week of January 14th and PK students the week of January 21st.  A letter from the classroom teacher will give you the exact day and time.

The goal of this presentation is to empower the student about his/her body rights and to provide him/ her with tools to protect him/herself.  Madame Akina will introduce the right to say "NO" to unwanted or inappropriate touch (touching under our clothing or bathing suit area), as presented in the book Your Body Belongs to You by Cornelia Spelman.

Coffee with the JS Principal - January 18th

Please plan on attending the next Coffee with the Principal on January 18th starting at 8:00 a.m. The topic will be "What's in the Future at Le Jardin Academy" - a presentation by our high school administration, college counselor and high school students.

Parent Tips

Recognizing how important brain development is the first 5 years of life; starting this Friday, January 11, the Junior School teachers will be posting weekly tips that help kids learn in everyday situations. In an effort to conserve paper, teachers will post these tips on the sign in/out sheets every Friday beginning January.  (Take a photo of the tip so you don't forget it).

There's MORE! In January, Chloe McDermott and Rochelle Fairbairn will be conducting a parent workshop focusing on how to effectively communicate with young children.

Report Cards

Report cards including a checklist from each specialist and homeroom teacher and personalized comments from homeroom teachers will be mailed on January 25.  If you have a change of address, please notify the JS office ASAP.

Pups Party at the Main Campus - January 26th

The Lower School Principal would like to welcome JK Students with their Parents to a free Pups Party on January 26th from 9:00 - 11:00 am on the upper campus. There will be hands-on inquiry stations connected to art, science, and math run by our Lower School teachers as well as free play on the playground. We hope you are all able to join us with your child for a day of fun; we will meet on the playground! Due to licensing preschool restrictions, all children must attend with a parent. Please RSVP below and email Majken Johansson directly with any questions: majken.johansson@lejardinacademy.org

Open House Saturday - February 2nd

Le Jardin Academy's Open House offers a wonderful opportunity to visit the next grade level and tour the main campus.  Please join us on Saturday, February 2nd from 10 a.m. until noon to learn more about both campuses and the various divisions.

We are looking for JS parent volunteers, free of children, from 10:00-12:00 p.m. to help.  Please let Madame Akina know if you are available or sign up at the front courtyard table.  We thank you in advance for considering it.

Grandparents Day and May Day Start Time Changes

  • Grandparents Day, combined with Chinese New Year Parade will be held on February 8 at 10:00 a.m. on the playground.
  • May Day will be held on April 26 at 10:00 a.m. on the P.E. Field.
