Message from the Athletic Director

Congratulations to Alana Barthel for winning the state swimming championship in the 100 meter backstroke on February 9th. It was very exciting and we are so proud of you! Our entire LJA swim team made great progress this year.

Spring Break Reminder

Parents please consider the teams that your son or daughter has committed to (if they are currently playing a sport) when you are planning your spring break trips. It is very difficult (to have a competition) when numerous team members are missing.

Thank you.

Pac 5 athlete David Hayes competes in precision riflery.

David is really enjoying the sport and his JV team is very competitive and high quality this year. It looks like they are on track to win the ILH team title; with just one regular season match left, they are tied with Punahou and Sacred Hearts for the best record, and their team average score (which is the tie breaker when teams have the same win/loss record) is far above all the other teams in the state. Individually, David was ranked 23nd before the match last weekend

Swimming Season Summary from Coach Joe

Congratulations to all nine of the Bulldog competitors who swam at the HHSAA State Championships! There were many highlights. Leading the charge was Alana Barthel '21 who won the girls 100 back event. Luke Faurot '19 was runner up in the 100 breaststroke and Thomas Caps '22 placed 4th in the 200 IM. Ethan Ravelo '21 earned a medal in the 100 back. Caps, Faurot, and Ravelo teamed up with Scott Parrish '20 to place 3rd in the 200 free relay and 5th in the 400 free relay. India Spriggs '19 capped a fantastic career by teaming up with Skylar Webb '21 and Sarah Tarquin '22 and Lana Ravelo '22 to take 7th place in the 200 free relay. Spriggs, Barthel, Tarquin and Ravelo teamed up again and earned a medal in the 400 free relay.

Great job to the Bulldog swim team!

Le Jardin Soccer Academy News

The Pacific Rim Cup professional men's soccer tournament was held in Hawaii last weekend, and Le Jardin Academy Team's were well represented. Our U11 boys team were the escorts and accompanied the players onto the field prior to the start of the game. Our U12 boys team were the ball kids for the Friday evening game at Aloha Stadium. They were all geared up in their Under Armour kits provided by the Pacific Rim Cup and represented LJA well!

Golf Message from Coach Simpson

We will start our first practice on Feb. 14th at Bay View Golf Course.   Right now I am planning on having practice on Tuesday's at Mid-Pacific Golf Club and Thursday and Friday at Bay View Golf Course.    We might put Olomana Golf Course in there at some point also.  My thought right now is to play Tuesdays and Fridays and to work on the driving range and putting green on Thursdays.  I am planning on having our Intermediate and Varsity teams practice together.

I will have some great help with the teams this year.  Patrick Boyce is my top assistant again this year.  He's an excellent golfer and just great with the kids.   Brett Fillmore will be helping out when he can also. He coached the Paddling team, but also grew up playing golf and will be a great help.  During the tournaments Dante Sbarbaro's dad, Chris will help us out with players spread out on the course, as he did last year.

Sailing Announcement

We welcome students who are new and looking to try sailing. Practices will be held twice a week, Tuesdays and Fridays at Kaneohe Yacht Club. Bus transportation will be provided one way.

Weight Room Reminder

Please keep in mind if you're interested in lifting in the school weight room to check in with Coach Dave Cosier, the school's strength and conditioning coach. The weight room is open for LJA students to lift on their own, or with Coach Dave everyday from 3:30pm-5:30pm or 6am-7am on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  In order to workout, a liability form (which can be found in the athletics office) needs to be completed. If you're interested in learning more, please email Coach Dave Cosier, for more information. Students are not permitted in the weight room unsupervised at any time for safety reasons. Off season is the best time for athletes to start a training regiment. The body takes time to gain muscle and get into shape so planning ahead is necessary.

Save the Date: Winter Sports Banquet-March 7th at 5:30pm in the Wang Auditorium
