As we are progressing with our Distance Learning program, we will be adding live event opportunities with our specialists and aides. Mrs. Craig already launched "Silly Songs" sessions this week, Mr. Loya will offer Movement sessions and Ms. Kamiya will hold a session called "Let's Create With Legos" on Thursday.
To register for these live sessions, please go to the PK or JK LJA PYP Distance Learning homepage. Towards the bottom of the page you will find a new link to the Distance Learning Live Event Calendar. We ask that you register 24 hours in advance and cancel 2 hours prior to the start of the class if you are no longer available. Please note that our sessions are secure and you will need a password to join. This password will be communicated to each family by Mrs. Miyahana in a separate email.
BUDDY TIME WITH HS STUDENTS We are also looking to pilot a buddy program for students in JK and K so they can connect with a Le Jardin high school buddy (and give you a bit of peace) on Mondays and Wednesdays between 2:00 - 4:00 for 30 minutes. The high school buddy would engage in share, play games with your child, and sing songs together... etc. all done in a group of 2-4 students. This is something new we are trying to hopefully help you at home. We are aiming at creating the groups this weekend and begin next Wednesday. Let us know if you are interested by replying to the email that Ms. Lisa Ventura, Lower School Administrative Assistant sent you on Thursday, April 16.
SCREEN ETIQUETTE Teachers and students seem to really enjoy the direct connection they are getting with our live sessions. As we are reflecting on the sessions we are offering to our young learners, we realize that like in the classroom, we would be more successful if we all followed the same guidelines such as listening attentively, waiting for our turn to talk, raising our hands for the right to talk, avoiding silly behaviors and shouting or interrupting. Here are the posters that teachers may be using when starting their live sessions or need to redirect. We thank you in advance for your help in making these sessions productive and fun. FINANCIAL AID If you are experiencing financial difficulties due to the Covid-19 crisis, for the remaining of the school year or to keep your child at Le Jardin next school year, parents of PK-12 have the opportunity to apply to financial aid. For more information, please go to financial.aid@lejardinacademy.
Wishing us all a great week 4 of Distance Learning. Keep on sending us photos and videos. It keeps us connected!
