Principal's Message by Alex Ramsvig, HS Principal
Aloha All,
With Earl Kim's announcement last week that we will continue distance learning for the rest of this semester, our faculty and staff working to ensure that our program is ready to deliver right until our last day of classes for this year.
During their first meetings next week, each teacher will provide students a "road map," or plan, for the rest of the semester so that each student knows what summatives remain and how they will be assessed. We will not be having a traditional exam week; instead, teachers will provide the most appropriate assessment opportunity for each class (this may include a take-home test, project, essay or other task) to demonstrate their learning.
As noted by Earl, we will have no "in-person" large events during the month of May. For more information about NHS Induction, HS Awards, and Athletic awards, please look for specific details and Zoom meeting invites to the events by email soon.
Finally, if you have not already done so, please consider completing this survey on our Distance Learning program to help us improve.
Thank you, and as always please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. HS Principal alex.ramsvig@lejardinacademy.org
Please feel free to visit The Flex for ways you and your whole family can be engaged, active and part of our community every day!
Have a great weekend and stay safe!

Aloha Le Jardin Academy Families,
College exploration and discovery is a fluid process, just waiting for you to get started. Being at home may feel like a barrier but not to worry, here are some suggestions to help you with your college process:
3. As colleges land on your radar I suggest to look at their admission webpage as they have been putting together virtual tours and programming for interested students. I understand it is not the same as physically visiting but this is the next best thing given the current situation. Also Scoir uses Youvisit so you can utilize this as an option for a virtual tour of a campus you may be interested in.

Here are the Insight Questions for next year's UC application. You will choose 4 questions to answer and each response can be no more than 350 words. There are no questions that "weigh' more than another. Your selection of questions should be based on which questions are most applicable and don't forget to answer the question. The responses could provide additional context for information provided in the rest of the application. The actual UC application is not available until August 1.
REMINDER-The UC system will be test optional for the Class of 2021
1. Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time.
2. Every person has a creative side, and it can be expressed in many ways: problem solving, original and innovative thinking, and artistically, to name a few. Describe how you express your creative side.
6. Think about an academic subject that inspires you. Describe how you have furthered this interest inside and/or outside of the classroom.
8. Beyond what has already been shared in your application, what do you believe makes you stand out as a strong candidate for admissions to the University of California?
Aloha Class of 2020 and Parents-
Mr. Liedtke
Enjoy and Stay Safe
DISTANCE LEARNING REMINDER
Aloha LJA High School Parents and Students:
Teachers' "Office Hours" are when students have their class time and that is the best time to reach teachers for help (as they may be teaching other classes before or after a student's scheduled class time).
**We are following a J-Day (Monday); A-Day (Tuesday); R-Day (Wednesday) and D-Day (Thursday) class schedule each week in Distance Learning!**
Fridays are Flex or "X" Days. On Flex days, students may:
If a student needs help or has any questions outside of the class meeting time, please email individual teachers and they will get back to you as soon as they can!
Class overviews for the following week are posted by the end of the day on Fridays!
Attendance & Missing Work: We also hope to mitigate the volume of emails parents are receiving during this time. That said, if at any point you need to contact your child's teacher please continue as before, to email them directly for their support and clarification. Please see the following information that was communicated out to the students this week.
