Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 10th. LJA MS Would Like to Acknowledge All the Wonderful Mothers In Our Extended Ohana and Wish Them a Very Happy Day! National Teacher Appreciation Week
The Power of Teachers, By Jordan M.
Teachers at LJA Siena S.
My teachers have amazing super powers. Each one is unique to them and help them accomplish the best teaching for that class. My teachers are willing to help with anything. They allow us to be creative and learn with excitement. I think that getting middle schoolers to be excited about a unit or relate to it is difficult, but that doesn't mean that our teachers stop trying. They try harder. I think this is what makes our teachers at LJA so great. Asher H.
I think that the teachers have been super duper patient with us and that is amazing because things have been tough for everyone and the teachers have really helped that. Anonymous
My teachers help me on my work even if i don't understand it Superpowers: Kind 8th Grade Digital Poetry Slam Ms. Sabrina Ito
Congratulations to all of the participants in this year's 8th Grade Digital Poetry Slam: Alohi M., Ian C., Vinny B., Miya P., Gio O., Dena B., Ronan C., Ben L., Alex L., Ravi R., Aiden B., and Walker S.. You all wrote and performed wonderful poems, and I'm proud of each of you for your creativity, your hard work, and your willingness to put yourselves out there and share your writing with a wider audience.
The Top 3 Winners for this contest were selected based on detailed student feedback which considered the following criteria: popular vote, poetic form, and digital 'performance.' It was a close race, but here are this year's Top 3 winners:
Here are Two of the 8th Grade Digital Poetry Slam Entries Man on Mountain
Sits upon his throne Yet he does move But not a hair For he is made from stone
So bright and brilliant its glow He sees the foxes and wolves and hares The skeletons that they are
So tall they reach the sky He sees the fowls and owls and birds The sky they flew- empty
Pristine in its own beauty He sees the stone and rocks and boulders The pebbles they became
For his throne has been taken
Once sat upon his throne A throne once known A throne overthrown To be sat on no more Ode to Unknown Eye Surgeries
Not knowing what was happening What these people in white Masks covering their faces As they draw me into this teal room
Strawberries and smiles Going down another aisle To the room that would be the end Still not knowing what was happening What these people in white Masks covering their faces As the draw me into this teal room
Wondering why four sets of drops in each eye In the room that clears my vision Still not knowing what was happening What these people in white Masks covering their faces As they draw me into this teal room. More Pictures of Our May Day King and Queen Dear LJA,
