Reminders & Updates From The Principal
Trouble Connecting to Zoom?
Aloha LJA Middle and High School Students!
Whether you are distance learning today or if you will be next week, you will be Zooming into your classes often. If you have trouble getting into Zoom...
YOU CAN GET LOCKED OUT OF ZOOM IF YOU TRY THE PASSWORD MORE THAN THREE TIMES!!!!
Please review this slide deck to learn what to do if you have trouble signing in. But please don't try more than twice. The third time is NOT the charm. :)
Remember to email:
HELPDESK@LEJARDINACADEMY.ORG if you have tech troubles. Our team is standing by ready to assist you.
Cheers,
Distance Learning
Level 3- High Risk
All students will shift into distance learning effective August 19th
Robotics Team Message
Good afternoon!
Thanks for your help!
MYP Minute Rachel Domenic, MYP Coordinator & Dean of Academics
On Monday and Tuesday, teachers will be working hard to prepare lessons and online class communities that follow 4 Critical areas of online learning (see the learning protocol below). Teachers will be building lessons that support making connections and building relationships. They will be connecting each period via Zoom.
Teachers will be Communicating clear weekly overviews on Fridays for students to plan their week ahead and check their past work for completion. It is also important that students communicate with the teachers for any clarification of instructions, content, etc. The 3rd C is Collaboration. Teachers will be encouraged to have students learn in small groups and build in social activities to encourage student interaction. The last C (actually two!) is Critical & Conceptual Thinking.
Teachers and students will be digging deeper into inquiry-based projects, modeling critical thinking skills, and providing real world application of content in the classroom. Each newsletter I will explore one of the 4Cs in more detail. This week we will focus on an overview of survival tips of round two of distance learning.
Parent Survival Tips:
Encourage patience. Both teachers and students are learning new technology. We are working on microphones, speakers, and other technology. Teachers are building in new routines to make DL and F2F productive for all. Mahalo to the warm welcome all the parents and students have given me in the first couple weeks here. I am so happy to be a part of the LJA family and look forward to serving you and the community!
