May 6, 2021 Lower School Principal Message Aloha Parents!
It's Teacher Appreciation Week and I want to use this public forum to give my own appreciation to our lower school teachers. Through distance learning, face to face safety protocols, and juggling students in both settings at the same time, the lower school teachers have met each and every challenge with positivity, thoughtfulness, and care as they worked to find creative solutions. They've gone above and beyond this year as we continued to adjust to the pandemic. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for these teachers and their dedication.
Thank you for all the appreciation you've shown for our teachers this week. I know they are loving those little notes and thank you treats from the children.
May Day is tomorrow! Be sure to read the important details below and enjoy the show via livestream.
Aloha, Leah

Here's what our community said about Rebecca and Cassie: "Whenever I watch Rebecca do a read aloud, I am always struck with her masterful management and the way she honors and respects each child as she redirects an off topic question or behavior."
"Cassie has some of the best lesson pacing I have seen. Somehow she manages to chunk challenging lessons to keep students engaged in the lesson when they are so eager to dive into the activity."
"Rebecca and Cassie collaboratively design and co-teach learning experiences to extend the PYP units of inquiry in new directions, challenging their students to think deeply, critically, and creatively about the world around them."
Beyond the classroom, this team is recognized for their community engagement, leadership, and the inspiration they provide for their peers. Congratulations to the Lower School Media Team!
