August 12, 2021 Lower School Principal Message Aloha Lower School Parents,
Our campus is abuzz with laughter and learning! We're so glad to have the kids back and eager to learn. I want to take this opportunity to thank our amazing teachers and Facilities Crew who worked tirelessly the past week in preparing creative learning environments that are both safe and conducive to hands-on inquiry based learning.
I also want to thank all of you, the parents, for taking the time to do the self-screening every morning, refraining from sending children to school sick or recently travelled, and having your children all packed and ready for a great day on campus. We so appreciate you!
Together, this is going to be a fantastic year. Please reach out to me with any questions you may have. If you missed any of our orientations, you can view the recordings below.
Aloha, Leah Magaña
BRINGING THE LEARNING HOME One of our three school-wide operational goals for this year is to develop a clear and sustainable system and infrastructure that supports social-emotional learning (SEL). This includes cultivating a parent partnership that supports SEL at home. Instead of asking your child "how was your day?" consider asking:
More questions to ask your child: 10 questions to ask your child instead of how was your day? 20 questions to ask your child instead of how was your day?
BEGINNING OF THE YEAR ORIENTATION SESSIONS COVID Updates Session - https://youtu.be/EsiCmnnLZB8 Kindergarten Session - https://youtu.be/1v2afRByl9M Lower School Session - https://youtu.be/WSMVvgTqsO0 IN THE LOOP! Thank you for your patience in the loop in the first few days. We expect delays into the beginning of after school activities.
Don't Forget!
ROOM PARENTS Interested in being a room parent? Room parents communicate with parents in their child's class about upcoming PFA sponsored events and activities and support the teacher in arranging special events/days. If you're interested in volunteering as a room parent, share your interest HERE. If we have more than one volunteer per class we will choose via random selection. In some cases in which we may not have enough room parents and may ask a parent to be a grade level representative. Please submit your interest by August 20.
HEALTH UPDATES LJA COVID-19 Response Level We have upgraded to a LJA Risk Response Level 2. This means that in the Lower School we will:

A paper copy of your child's daily schedule will be sent home the first week of school. School starts at 7:45am. EARLY MORNING DROP OFF – between 6:30 and 7:30am
