October 1, 2021 Junior School Principal Message Aloha Junior School 'Ohana, As we slowly move toward the start of October it's exciting to see growth in so many of our students. Now that we have been in school for over a month, a lot of the routines have been practiced and in some cases mastered. This week has been filled with excitement as our PK keiki celebrated the culmination of their unit with their Playfest. JK has been hard at work and having fun as they enjoy Aloha week! Learning about this special place we call home is an exciting endeavor and it's neat to see students make connections with what they're learning and experiences they've had with you around our beautiful islands. In Kanikapila with Mr. M we continued learning about our numbers in Hawaiian, this time reading the story "All Around the Islands" where we talked about the uniqueness of each island and what made them special. Mahalo to those of you who attended our Virtual Parent Coffee on Friday and for those of who couldn't make it, we will be sending out a recording of the Zoom for you to watch at a more convenient time. Have a safe weekend!
Me ke aloha pumehana, Josh Masagatani
PICTURE TAKING DAY Oct. 5 JK Oct. 6 PK Please send your child to school dressed in their outfit for picture taking. You may pack a change of clothes for afterward. No payment or orders needed at this time. Proofs and ordering information will be sent home in the next few weeks. The background this year will be light blue. TRAVEL POLICY Are you planning on traveling over Fall Break? We are asking LJA students/'ohana that are planning to travel out of state to inform the school nurse via this form. (This form is for out of state travel only, regardless of vaccination status.) HALLOWEEN PARADE - Friday, October 29th Traditionally, we invite parents to our playground and have a parade with songs and dancing. Like last year, in light of safety policies, we have reimagined our parade to take place in our parking lot where parents can park and watch while socially distanced. This was a huge success and we are looking forward to putting on another 'spooktacular' parade this year. Please save the date!
Our Decorating Committee is starting to plan the Halloween transformation of the Junior School and we couldn't be more excited! If you are looking for a way to get involved please reach out to our wonderful PFA representative Caitlin McOmish for more information! MAHALO! We want to thank our PFA and especially Megan Gold for all their hard work and creativity in putting together our International Peace Day sign! This colorful collaboration between our Junior school students, faculty, and staff is a welcoming sight as you enter the courtyard. Thank you very, very much!
