Blessed. On November 16, special guest Kumu Ka'anohi Aipa and a small group gathered for a traditional Hawaiian blessing of our new athletic field. After many months of meticulous planning and care, this is the final stage in readying our field for years of concentrated play. We are so grateful to everyone who worked hard to make this long awaited addition to our campus possible, and to Kumu Ka'anohi Aipa, for gracing us with such a powerful and moving initiation. We can't wait to welcome all of you to the new field soon! |

| NEW PUBLICATION BY JANICE CORSINO AND NANI NASH EXPLORES EXPRESSION AND EXPERIENCE On November 10, Davis Publications published an article authored by LJA teachers Janice Corsino and Nani Nash: "Connecting with Chromosthesia," which explores how one sensory experience can inform and inspire another. "Students in their music class tapped into their synesthetic minds by listening to two compositions containing very different musical elements such as dynamics, rhythm, form, and tonality. Students sketched or wrote whatever entered their minds while listening to the different musical pieces. Colors, shapes, emotions, stories, memories, and even numbers flowed onto the paper. Next, students took their sketches and ideas to art class and chose which sketch to develop into a finished artwork." Read the full article. |
