Global Day of Play - February 1, 2023
Global Play Day, an event celebrated annually by schools across the world, will be celebrated on Wednesday. Global Play Day is a day devoted to experiential learning through unstructured play in which students are practicing social and emotional skills and reflecting upon their practice. This day is invaluable as we work to educate the whole child with a break from traditional academics.
PK-JK students: No need to bring anything different than a typical day. Play items will be provided by the school.
K-5 students may bring: Board games, toys, or electronic toys (no screens).
Students may NOT bring: Electronic devices with screens, weapons of any kind, or transportation vehicles with wheels (ie. bikes, roller skates, skateboards).
School Counseling (From the Parent/Student Handbook)
Our counselors work with all Grade K-5 students on their social and emotional growth. Our counselors help to promote healthy relationships through conflict resolution and inclusive environments through whole-class lessons and activities, small groups, or 1:1 lessons and activities. Our counselors also organize a "Fun Lunch" to discuss topics necessary to students, such as friendships, divorce, or loss. You may make a request for our counselors to meet with your child, should you feel a need. If necessary, your child may be sent to a counselor to discuss specific issues and problem solve. The Division Head or Dean of Students may also refer students to counselors for behavioral interventions. Parents are informed of such sessions.
LOOP DROP OFF AND DISMISSAL (K-5 MAIN CAMPUS)
Drop Off
Grades K-2 students and those in need of help departing vehicles should be dropped off on the C-Playground side of the loop. Remember to have footwear on and bags ready. Families with youngest children in Grades 3-5 may drop off on the tennis court side of the loop. Remember to pull ALL the way up to the red curb in front of the Admin Building when you arrive. If there are empty curb spaces in front of vehicles that are still unloading students, you may pull around the vehicle to keep the car line moving. Please use blinkers and drive extra cautiously when passing.
Dismissal
Be sure to keep your placard on your dashboard or clipped to your visor. You may request additional placards as needed from your homeroom teacher. Enter the Loop at the dismissal time of your eldest K-5 child. K-5 siblings will wait at your eldest K-5 child's grade level location (see below). If you have older children in Grades 6-12, please tell older siblings to join their younger siblings in the Loop for pick up. If you arrive early for pick up, please pull over and wait on the hillside (below the loop) until your child's scheduled dismissal time.
