News & Events
My name is Autumn Woods and I am delighted to serve as the PFA President for the 2017-18 school year. I am the mother of a 6th grade daughter and we are looking forward to the exciting world of Middle School! Our family is beginning our third year at Le Jardin Academy, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be actively involved in this vibrant community of parents and faculty.
The PFA meets monthly to plan the fun family activities we have throughout the school year. There are three General Meetings that are open to all families (September, December and May). We have a great attendance and I encourage you to join us – it’s a great opportunity to meet with fellow parents and the administration. Coffee, tea and breakfast treats are involved, in case you need added incentive to join us!
As you may have noticed, the PFA information has move to the Community section of the LJA website. I think this is a particularly good move, as the PFA provides an opportunity to enrich the community of students, parents and faculty at the school. It’s easy to get involved in this community – whether you’d like to be a room parent, help with the fun events coming up this school year, or just know what programs the PFA provides for the students. You can also easily show your support for LJA through the Amazon Smile Rewards program and CPK days.
There are several exciting programs back for the school year, including the return of nationally-recognized science show by Professor Smart. Many thanks to outgoing president Morgan Larue for coordinating this effort. The PFA is also pleased to announce that a donation was made to the Annual Fund to support the ongoing efforts of the school’s leadership in funding faculty professional development, facility improvements, scholarships – all resulting in a powerful, positive impact on our students.
I invite you to contact me if you have any questions or would like more information about volunteering with the PFA. I am excited to share the projects we have planned and welcome the opportunity to hear your ideas about new ones: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Looking forward to another great year as part of the LJA ohana!

The Admissions Office and the PFA jointly sponsor Bienvenue au Jardin (French for "Welcome to our Garden"), a program to welcome new LJA families into our ‘ohana. The purpose of this event is to give new families a sense of welcome into our school community. We pair a current family (the "Ambassador Family") with a new family. Ambassador Families are a liaison during the school year, answering questions and providing support during the new families' transitions to our school.
Ambassador Family Tasks
As part of this program, we ask current LJA families to let us know if they want to participate. Ambassador Families make a welcome phone call and/or email to an incoming family, giving them a friendly transition to their child’s new school. We match families as closely as possible by age and gender of students, making this a great opportunity to also make new friends. As an Ambassador Family, you will receive an email with your new family's contact information in mid to late July, along with some guidance on how to answer questions your new family may have. You will also receive an invitation to the festive Bienvenue au Jardin Welcome event, which is usually scheduled for early August in the Administration Building Courtyard on the main campus (LS/MS/HS), and at the Junior School Campus (JS families). Attending these parties is not required of an Ambassador Family, but they are a fun way to meet your new family in person.
The Welcome Brunch is held at the beginning of the school year on Lower and Middle School "Meet The Teacher Day" in August. It is a great way for all parents in Junior School through High School, old and new, to grab a bite to eat and catch up with each other! PFA representatives are present to answer questions on volunteer opportunities.
The Holiday Craft Fair is held annually in December on the Main Campus, often in conjunction with Lower School Winter Wonderland activities.
This year, the Holiday Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 from 10 am to 2 pm,
The LJA Family Fun Run is held annually on a Sunday in February, rain or shine! The event is FREE, but registration is mandatory. The course circles the Main Campus, beginning and ending on the soccer field. This event takes many volunteers to make it a success, and any help you can offer is appreciated!
Coffee/Pupus with the Principals are casual gatherings where all principals discuss topics of interest to parents. Coffees are generally held at either 8:15 a.m. or 3:30 p.m. in various school locations, and there is usually one evening event per year.
Coffee dates and locations are listed on the school calendars.
A PFA team provides special treats for our LJA Faculty/Staff about once a month. This team also puts on the annual Teacher Appreciation luncheon in May and surprises our faculty with gifts during Teacher Appreciation Week.
Available jobs may include: organization of volunteers, making treats, helping with the annual luncheon, or helping with Teacher Appreciation Week.
